Shayla turned 6 years old today!
Every year I compile many of the photos of the past year in a slideshow (see photos in this post and slideshow link at end of post) and it is so fun to look back and see all the things that Shayla has done the past year and what she loves to do! She has grown in leaps and bounds this year. It is amazing to see all that she has done in what seems to have been such a short year. We love her personality and the joy and enthusiasm she brings to life!
Someone sent Shayla
birthday wishes today that described her as sweet, sassy and smart and she
definitely is all those things, but I had to add to the “S” list that she
is strong-willed, sensitive, smiley, social and of course spectacular! But if I
had to choose one word to describe Shayla this year I think it would be
SPUNKY! She is my spunky little girl – always up to try new things, meet
new friends, liven up the room, and cheer up anyone around her!
This past year was such a year of firsts - starting kindergarten, girl scouts, and soccer, recently starting to learn how to play piano. She is passionate about what she likes and doesn’t like – for example, she is not a girly girl. Shay will wear dresses for church and if I beg her but other than that she pretty much likes leggings, t-shirts, and jeans/capris. She has told me on occasion – “Mom, I don’t need to look pretty every day”, or “ Mom I would much rather be a superhero than a princess”.
The above photo shares some of Shayla's favorite things, but
I wanted to expand a bit as well. She LOVES learning and
school. I can often find her up after “lights out” for bedtime
reading books or writing short stories or notes to someone. Recently
Grandma Joan asked her what her favorite thing to draw was, and she responded
“Sentences”. As you can see in her photos, she also loves the scooter, art projects, being outside, making silly faces with daddy, animals, and making everyone happy!
