Easter Recap and Cambria Trip!

We had a joyous Easter week and fun Easter weekend getaway!

We started the weekend with an Easter Egg hunt at church.

Mitchell found lots of eggs!
So did Shayla!
My Easter cuties

Then we hit the road for an Easter get away to Cambria!
On the way we stopped at Oceano Dunes and the kids got a kick that we could drive onto the beach!
Fun times!
Playing on the cold beach!
The Nelsons were here!
The kids brought their new "pet" Dinosaur in the car

We arrived at our hotel - Cambria Pines Lodge - which was so beautiful!  Here are the kids on the nature walk around the property! They loved watching out for deers and woodpeckers!

The next day we headed a few minutes north and saw the Elephant Seals.  It was molting season so there were only juvenile makes and females on the beach, but still quite a sight to see!
The kids loved watching them!

Nelsons and seals!

Do we have to say goodbye to the seals?
It was such a pretty area!
Then off to Hearst Castle since we were so close to it!  I wasn't sure if they kids would like it, but the tour was only 45 minutes so short enough to keep their attention span and they enjoyed running around the property and the bus ride there and back. It is a neat part of history and it is amazing what Mr. Hearst did with his vision!
The kids and the Hearst Castle
Then we hit up Moonstone beach - the tide was high but we still got in some tide pooling!
It was a beautiful day and beach and we got lots of shells!
The next day we went to church in Morro Bay and took a short nature walk after church!  Such a beautiful place!

And back home after a stop at firends for Eater dinner!  We got home to find the Easter Bunny had visited our home! (Mitchell said "Mom, God must have made the Easter Bunny out of powdered sugar!")

And the kids got to find their Easter baskets!

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

We are so grateful for the gift of the Atonement in our lives and to know the Savior personally!  We try to remember that all season long! The beauty of the nature we saw this Easter weekend really helped us know God loves us so he gave us such a beautiful land to live in!

Spring Break Fun!

Spring Break Recap!

Spring break has come and gone!  We planned a few fun local day trips and did not travel too far from home, but still had a lot of fun!   I asked Shayla what three things she wanted to do the most during spring break and she told me 1. Swimming, 2. Magic Mountain and 3. Movies.  Well, we went swimming but did not get to the movies but we went to Magic Mountain twice, so I told her that replaced the movies!  She was okay with that!

One of the kids favorite things to do is walk down to the River bed by our park and collect pretty rocks. So we did that on a beautiful day!

MAGIC MOUNTAIN!  We went twice!  Once with our friends and once with daddy!  Mitchell is now 42' so he can go on a lot more rides (like Ninja but after the first time he went on it last trip he refuses to go again!)  But he did enjoy the bumper cars, the ship, the spinning rides in Gotham City!

Mom and Mitchell on the bumper cars!
Shayla is now 48" so she can go on most rides at the park except a few bigger ones like Batman and Tatsu.  We tried to take her on Colossus and Revolution and Viper but they were all closed for the day (well Colossus was only going backwards and you had to be 54" for that) so we found that Goliath was open!  I was more nervous for her then she was and tried to talk her out of it, but she LOVED it!  We would have gone again but it was a busy day so too long of a line and Mitchell and Daddy were waiting for us in the kids area!  But yep, she is my little dare devil!
Here she is ready to board!

Here we are at the end of the ride!  All smiles!

A family pic of the day!

We also went to Conejo Creek North park - another one of our favorite place - where the kids were in a photo shoot with a local candidate for office -- their first political ad! Ha ha!  Photos of that to come when they are official!  We also love to feed the ducks there and play on all the cool equipment at that park!

Then we also got to squeeze in a beach day with some friends and it was a perfect day! They had fun playing the the sand and building things!

And we got to go to a friend's daughters birthday party and the kids loved the giant caterpillar pinata!

Last, the day they got back to school, a volunteer group hosted a Easter egg hunt for the kids at Shayla's school, so they had fun running around finding eggs and kicking of the Easter Season!

Here's to another fun spring break and ever lasting memories!
