Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe

Okay so last weekend our church had an ice cream social and I brought the hot fudge sauce. I learned that many people do not make their own hot fudge sauce (gasp) it is like the difference between Haagen Daaz and Store Brand Ice cream - you must have your own good recipe for hot fudge sauce. Not much is better than a bowl of vanilla ice cream dripping with fresh homemade hot fudge sauce. So, here are my two favorites with my favorite being first. They each use totally differnet ingredients so if you want to make one right now maybe you will have the ingredients for one of them on hand! Enjoy!

My Mom’s Hot Fudge Sauce - my favorite!

2 cups chocolate Chips

1 Cup Fat Free Evaporated milk

½ cup sugar

½ tsp vanilla

½ tsp butter

Heat all ingredients in saucepan over medium high heat. Wisk until boiling. Allow to boil for 15-30 seconds, then remove from heat. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Cool slightly and serve over ice cream or dessert! Refrigerate leftovers and heat in the microwave to re-liquefy. You can also use the leftovers as a truffle mix/filling when refrigerated.

Aunt Ruthie’s Hot Fudge Sauce (from book World of Pies)

1 Stick butter

2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate (or 2 ounces)

1 ½ cup sugar

6 Tablespoons Milk

2 Tablespoons Karo White Corn syrup

Melt butter and chocolate together over low heat. Add the sugar, milk and Karo. Stir together and bring to boil – boil for one minute. Take off heat and let set for about 2 minutes. Then pur while still hot over ice cream. It will harden a bit (more chewy than hard). Warning addictive!

Cousin love!

This past weekend, Shayla and I went to help watch my sister Amy's kids at my sister-in-law Christine's house. We were with a 3 year old, 3 two year olds and a 8 month old for 4 days! It was so fun to have the cousins play so nicely (most of the time) together! I am glad Shay has cousins her age and that we get to see them now and then!

You are what you eat...

I had never read this before and thought it was so neat not to share - isn't it truly amazing to know that God's presence is really all around us. Every intricate detail in our lives and nature...

It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish... All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw.
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... And YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

We love beach camping!

This week we were able to join my brother Tommy and his wife Christine's family for some camping at Refugio Beach. Thanks for letting us tag along! The weather was perfect and we had lots of fun! The kids could not get enough of the beach as always!

The kids playing in the sand!

Shayla wanted to be buried in the sand too!

Celebrating the 4th!

As Shayla gets older and more into understanding everything, holidays get better and more fun!

We started the day off at a Pancake Breakfast at our church - annual tradition - except this year I was in charge so I was there at 5 am );

I have to show a photo of the grill since I was really impressed that Jon and a few other guys from church built it (and finished it a few days before)...Jon on phone in background of course.

Next we headed over to the Fillmore Car show and while the boys look ed at cars I took Shayla over to ride the ponies which she loved!

After our big family BBQ, we went on a walk.

Shayla decided she wanted to pull uncle Doug instead of ride in the wagon.

Shayla loved the fireworks and we cannot wait until next year!

Beauty...

Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. ~ Rossiter W. Raymond

This is Charlotte's final resting place beneath Mount Olympus in the Salt Lake Valley. I cannot think of a more beautiful place for a beautiful girl to be laid to rest...

Charlotte...

Last Saturday, my darling, beloved niece Charlotte Larsen (my sister Molly's daughter) passed away after she fell ill at our family reunion in Utah. These last few weeks have been so emotional and hard and I cannot even begin to imagine what my sister and her family have been feeling. It was very unexpected and they are pretty certain she passed away from the effect of a viral infection combined with an underlying metabolic disease (probably a Mitochondrial disease) . It is a disease that is more common than Cystic Fibrosis yet very few people have heard of it.

I was able to say goodbye to her at the hospital which was very special to me. And I was able to be there this Tuesday at the beautiful memorial to her life. One of the things that was said was that Charlotte's purpose on this earth may have been to be an example so that the rest of us will strive to live our lives as pure as hers so that we can be with her again one day. I am thankful that I have a strong knowledge of what happens to us after we die and know that the knowledge of the resurrection and that we will be with our loved ones again can help us get through such sorrowful times as these. I cannot wait to see you and hug you and kiss you again Charlotte! You are loved by so many and have touched the lives of so many!
