HAPPY EASTER!

We wish we could celebrate Christ's Resurrection with all our loved ones but since we cannot we are wishing you all a very wonderful Easter and so grateful that today signifies the opportunity we have to live forever in the ever after! We are so thankful for Jesus Christ and the gift of the atonement!

Party time!

The party season is upon us! This time of year is when many of Shayla (and now Mitchells) friends have birthdays and we are blessed to often be able to share their special days with them! The last few weeks we have had several parties and although I did not bring my camera to all of them here are some of our fun days!

We also went to Shayla's bu fun Star Wars themed party recently and the Light Sabers (made from pool noodles) were such a hit!

The Best Hulihan Sibs Ever!

I am so blessed with the most wonderful six siblings a girl could ask for! I also have great in-laws on both sides as well! Seriously I am so full of gratitude for my brothers and sisters and the amazing people they are! None of us are estranged or hold hard feelings for each other. I have joked on occasion if we ever started our own family compound we would have almost every needed industry covered between my siblings and their spouses - teacher, law enforcement, business, lawyer, doctor, cook, techy, midwife, etc!!!! My sisters are amazing moms and wives and my brothers are amazing husbands to their wives - seriously I think it is so awesome how they are so devoted to their families and how selfless they are! Each and every one of my siblings are so beautiful and talented and it amazes me how unique and gifted each one is - all from the same earthly and heavenly parents and we are all so so different yet fit together so well! Although we all do not live in the same state - or even the same country - I cherish them all and the times we do get to get together! I am so glad we get to watch our kids grow up together and share the joys and pains of life with the shared gospel of Christ in our lives as well!! I have been filled with so much love for them lately I just had to share! Here are my wonderful, beautiful, inspiring sibs!!!

Daffodils and Dad!

My dad is battling a recurrence of CLL (Chronic lymphocytic leukemia). He beat it over 2 years ago and we know he will again! He is lucky to be in proximity to one of the best cancer centers in the country - Moore Cancer Center. He makes the two hour each way commute at least once a week with my mom for his treatment and often more than that for long infusions, blood tests and more. He is in treatment and also working as his last year (he retires in June) as a school counselor! He is such a hard working, perservering man - being the father to 7 kids probably helped hone his endurance! I am so lucky to have him in my life and for his example to my family. Even when he is tired and worn down from treatment he is always there for anyone who needs him and never passes up the chance to rough house with his grandkids who love him so!

This past week, my mom shared how at the Cancer Center they were giving out little glass containers of daffodils to the patients, as daffodils are the flower of cancer. I had never heard that before but the background behind why is so beautiful and gives families of those with cancer such hope so I wanted to share that with you today!

No matter how much snow has covered them, no matter how many bitterly cold nights have settled upon them, now matter how many ice storms have beaten and battered the ground above them, invariably and without fail, they shove their bright little faces up out of the earth and turn toward the sun as if to say, "Ha! Here I am! You didn't think I could do it this time, but in spite of it all, I'm still here!"

No wonder the daffodil is the traditional flower symbol for cancer survivors. We endure the shock of diagnosis, the dread of surgeries and other treatments, the painful and often disabling side effects, and the fearful uncertainty that follows us the rest of our lives,

because now we truly understand

- we really and finally "get it"

- that life is about hills and valleys,

triumph and defeat,

storms and sunshine

and yet...

and yet...

and yet...

we keep on keepin' on.

We are the daffodils.

Dad, we know you are strong and a survivor and are so glad you are still here keeping on with us!!
