Happy New Year 2016!!!

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It's 2016!  So CraZy!!!

We had a low key new years eve starting with our New Years tree activities - fun things to do every two hours - and our annual tradition of Ice Blocking with friends!  Ending with dinner and the start of the Star Wars Marathon for the kids! Since the 7th Star Wars came out over break, we figured it is time for the kids to start the series!  So here we are in 2016!  May yours be blessed and full of all good things!!

Mothers - Gods gift to the world!

Mother's Day Week!

So wonderful to be able to celebrate my Mother and my Mother In Law and also so sweet and priceless to have my children celebrate me!

This is what the kiddos think of me - I love hat my Super Power is "burning things with fire" and that my favorite thing to do is "clean the dishwasher!"  Not very close Mitchell!

Celebrating my MOM!

And my Mother In Law!

Mother's Day at Mitchell's Preschool was special - they had a special chapel presentation for us, put paper corsages on us, sang to us and gave us a beautiful flower pot with their photo and silhouette in it!

I helped Jon's cousin host a special Mothers day generational brunch for all the Moms, Mother in laws and daughters!  It turned out SO lovely and was great to celebrate together!

And a few mom friends of mine celebrate every year together to by TAKING A DAY OFF FROM BEING a mom!  Is that bad?  Anyway we have a traditional Spa day out (this year at Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara - AMAZING and thank you online discounts!!)

and a Wango Tango concert - now I can say I saw Justin Beiber in concert (among others - SIA, Calvin Harris, EchoSmith, David Guetta, and more!)!  Ha ha!  It was a fun day notwithstanding the Beiber fans!!

SO BLESSED TO HAVE AN AMAZING MOM, MOTHER IN LAW AND CHILDREN WHO MADE ME A MOM!!!!

Irish Love!

We love celebrating our Irish heritage when St.Patty's day come around!  We like to make leprechaun traps and eat green foods and wear green and talk about St. Patty and the good he did in the world!

Nope, didn't catch him!  But almost - he left green footprints!

My Irish Cuties!

Shayla read an Irish themed book for her book club this month, and they discussed it and did some St Pattys day themes activities like pin the hat on the Leprechaun.

Let Freedom Ring!

Fourth of July in Fillmore is one of our favorite times of the year! Such a classic summer day - as one friend put it - picture a day in the movie Sandlot where summer days were hot, simple, and adventure awaited! This year we were lucky to have my sister Amy and her kids join us for the 4th!  Fillmore is always a happening place on the 4th as it id the only town in the neighboring counties where fireworks are legal.

The day starts out early - 8 am - at our annual pancake breakfast!! We went to church and met up with Nana and Papa at the pancake breakfast for flag raising, the pledge of allegiance, and a pancake breakfast. Then down to Central street to the Chili Cook off and Car Show to walk around and see the cars and get some Italian ices and kettle corn! Then we went to our Friday morning story time for some books about the 4th and craft projects!  Then back home to join up with some friends we invited over and a massive water gun fight combined with a giant jump house with slide for all the kids to enjoy! The rest of the day was full of fun, games, water, jumping, good food and laughter - and of course Popsicles and FIREWORKS!!!!

At night Fillmore becomes "Little Baghdad" with every street in town alive with explosions of color (not all legal) and the city's firework show blends with large fireworks being shot off from every park and neighborhood blanketing the town with a layer of smoke!   It is a day to remember and a highlight of the year! Come join us in Fillmore on the next 4th!

My patriotic kids!

Shayla's Birthday Fun!

Shayla had a fun and full birthday this past week and it was fun celebrating her 7th birthday!  Recap time...

Birthday Balloons on door! She awoke to this and presents piled outside her door!

Mission Accomplished!

Shayla playing with the gift "from Mitchell" a Pokemon Dictionary and figuring out all her Pokemon cards

Her "7" pancake loves more like a heart (;

MY 7 YEAR OLD!!

She was lucky and we had the day off of school for her birthday, so I let her choose her day of activities (vs doing a big birthday party)!

We met up with friends for a Subway lunch at the park

And enjoyed cupcake cones

Then off to the bowling alley - she REALLY wanted to try bowling for the first time for her birthday and so we did , and she loved it!

She broke 100 on her first game (well with bumpers!)  She is "Pokemon" - can you guess her current interest with the theme of the day so far!?

Then off to the pet store before we went home to meet up with more friends! She was most excited about getting a pet hermit crab for her birthday - she had been waiting and hoping for one since Christmas!  She is such an animal lover and wanted a puppy or kitty or rabbit but somehow I convinced her a hermit crab would be great! She picked a pretty lazy crab from the store, so we will see how it goes! More on that next post...

Then back home for a PJ Party with 3 friends - they wanted to skate around a lot and had fun trying it while Shayla rocked her new rollerblades from Nana and Papa!

Happy Birthday Shayla!
She wanted ice cream instead of cake and had a wonderful Birthday!
Here's to a fun year ahead with my beautiful, special gal!
