The Ranch fire is closer to us and parts of Fillmore are on recommended evacuation, but so far we are safe - the fire is a few miles away and the firefighters - bless them - will be working hard to keep it out of Fillmore.Department Update: "As of 6 am, October 23, the fire has burned 54,518 acres and is 10% contained. 767 personnel are currently assigned to the incident. Seven structures - three residences and four outbuildings - have been lost. Containment is expected October 31. At sunrise, Ventura County Sheriff/Fire helicopters will begin an all-day air attack on the western flank of the fire to slow its forward progress (towards Fillmore)."
