Annual Refugio Beach Trip 2014

Well it's summer time which means REFUGIO time!!!  We were able to go to Refugio this month with with family and friends and had a wonderful time.  This year the beach was strangely covered with rocks along the entire surface of the shore which supposedly were washed up or uncovered by a storm, so we did not have the pristine sandy shores to play on and boogy board, but we made due with tidepooling, playing on a small area of sand and visiting neighboring El Capitan beach!

The beach sunsets across from our tents were always a beautiful sight!

Tree climbing at campgrounds always a must!

And bike riding!

And we were brave this year and had the younger kids have a tent sleepover!
They survived and we slept in peace!

And the kids got buried in the sand!

We loved the tide pools and searching for shells and pretty rocks - look at these rocks on the shoreline!

Me and Mitchell!

We took a side trip to Solvang area to go to Ostrichland and feed the CRAZY aggressive Ostriches!

And Jame and I got to go on a nice morning bike ride along the coast.

And of course smores!
\
Two years in a row - a tradition for Shayla to lose a tooth at camp!  Good thing the tooth fairy knows where the camp is!

And a photo of the 4 year old boy crew!

David and Amber even came from Utah to join in the fun!

Piggy back rides on the beach are the best!
And proof that I was there and not just taking photos!  Until next year Refugio...

Our annual Refugio trip!

One of my favorite summer traditions (that I stole from my sister in law whose family we join) is our camping trip to Refugio!  We love camping there and the beach and family and laughter that is a part of it all!  This year we were robbed of camping the whole week because school started for Shay a week earlier than last year - DARN!  Anyway we only made it for a few days, but we still had a great time and cannot wait to go back!

Here is a link to all the pics and slideshow through Google pics!

 All trip photos here!

The camping kids!

Smores starting early - seriously who came up with the idea to stuff kids with sugar and chocolate right before bed when they are having an outdoor sleepover!  Sorry I am a party pooper!

The daring 3 year old! Momma saving him!

Had a foggy morning so went to Solvang for some sight seeing!

The tourist office directed us to the giant shoe - yeah here it is - I expected it to be bigger...

Abelskeivers - famous treat of Solvang!

Sunset at Refugio!

Kalea pushing Mitchell on swing - precious memories

The coolest playground I have been to (in Solvang) - so cool and equipped with misters and tire swings, etc!

Beach boy Dax!

Christines breakfast egg mcmuffin - we eat good when camping!

Amy drive up for day to camp and play at the beach with us!  Quincy has it down pat!

Mitchell planking...almost...

My brother! He is the camp master here!

And now, weekend update with...Larissa

Man, in regards to my SNL reference, I saw a portion of SNL the other day and it has been a few years since i have watched it - it has gone so downhill and in the gutter!  Anyway still a few classics to be made I am sure though!

Well last weekend we had a FUN FULL weekend! We had soccer in the am and then I had won tickets to Oktoberfest - and decide to go since it was at an Air museum and Jon was gone and they had a fun kids area.  So the kids had a blast looking at the airplane and had the bouncer and ride on toys almost to themselves much of the time (what no one else brings their kids to a beer fest?).

In the airplane seats...

Mitchell with the "Mitchell bomber"

The kids on the bouncer slide

After the Oktoberfest we headed to our friend Freddy's 2 year old costume party at Gull Wings museum.

A great Halloween themed kids spread!

Love the frightful strawberries!

Face painting!

Mitchell with birthday boy!

Then Sunday we went to my grandmas house to spend time with family and cousins!  I LOVE my family and wish I could see them more often, but I will take what I can get! I didn't take many photos, but here are Mitchell and Dax (the 2 year old boys!)

Boy oh Boy - Cousins!

My sister in law had a baby boy, Dax Taylor, a month before Mitchell was born. Her son Isaiah is also only a week younger than Shayla (and no we did not plan it!). It is great to have them so close in age and to see them grow up together and we look forward to seeing these 2 cute boys grow up together too!

Here they are - Mitchell at 7 weeks old (about 12.5 pounds) and Dax at 11 weeks old (about 15.5 pounds)!
