Wow well the year
is almost 3/4th's over, so I figured it was time I better check in
with where I am with my 13 goals for 2013!
Trying to be accountable via my blog should help me reach my goals. Here is where I am so far this year:
- Visit my grandparents in Idaho: DONE! Our whole family was able to go to Idaho in July for a family reunion and it was so wonderful to finally be in Shoup again and to see my grandparents! A LONG overdue trip and if I hadn't met any other goals this year, I would be glad I accomplished this one! So yay!
- Walk the dog once a week – I know for most dog owners
this isn’t a lot, but for us it is as he is hard to walk with the kids and
he has hip dysplasia so I have to be cautious (; anyway I have probably only skipped one
or two weeks this year when we were gone a lot, so almost met this goal.
- Archive all digital photos – I have been archiving my
photos from my photo hard drive and saving them to DVDs. It has taken a long time because I had a
weird computer glitch which duplicated all my files, so I have to go
through each month of each year to make sure I have the right duplicated
file (as some of the duplicated ones did not copy all photos!) Anyway I am about 75% done with this
goal and I am glad I organize my photos via month and year as it has made
it a lot easier to organize! (i.e.
“August 2013” is the folder title for all photos from August 2013).
- Redo my family Photo Wall – Still need a few for this
but excited in December to be able to add another sibling wedding photo to
my wall when my sister Kelsy gets married!
- Create 2012 Family Photo book – DONE! Completed in February
- Organize/Redo Shayla’s room - DONE! She finally has a new room – theme blue
cheetah. I still have a few items I
want to put on her wall to complete, but pretty much done. I will share photos if it is ever clean
for lonegr than 5 minutes!
- Organize/Redo Mitchell’s room – Half way there – he has
his toddler bed and toys updated, but he still has owl theme in his room
which I need to redo.
- Ride a Century bike ride – PENDING...this was a goal to
complete with Jon and we are awaiting his MRI results on a knee
injury. If no tear, we will be
completing it in October. I still
might on my own but I was looking forward to doing it with Jon, so if he
cannot I will wait until he can to complete this goal!
- Attend temple once a quarter – This is a spiritual goal
for me! As part of my faith, I visit the temple as a place of
worship and peace and I need to get to the temple more this year.
More about temples here. So far
so good here!
- Read 10 books by 10 new authors – So, I have read about
2 books a month, but I have reread
a few of my favorite authors including Khaled Hosseini, Dan Brown and Kate
Morton. But I have read the
following new authors in 2013 and I think I will hit my goal of 10 new
authors by years end:
- Cheryl Strayed – Wild
- Paula McCalin- The Paris Wife
- Mark Owen – No Easy Day
- Francine Rivers – A Voice in the Wind and An Echo in the Darkness
- Jim Gaffigan – Dad is Fat
- M.L. Stedman – The Light Between Oceans
- Write in my journal once a week – Ugh have NOT met this
goal. Have been writing in it once a month. I need to step this up and set this goal
again for 2014 with better results!
- Learn a new skill – always a good goal to have, just not
sure what skill yet – sewing, guitar, archery? Hmmm – STILL TO
ACCOMPLISH
- Try something that scares me! DONE as mentioned in
February! Jon took me to the shooting range so I could learn how to
handle and shoot a handgun! This scares me but also I think the
skill is necessary to have in case of emergency!!!
So, as a summary
I have done pretty good, I have fully completed 4 goals, am on track to
complete 5, 1 may be defaulted (Century ride) , failed at meeting 2 goals at
100% (dog walking every week and journal writing), and 1 I have to start on
(new skill!) So here we go into the busy
holiday season of the year hoping I can complete all of the goals I am still
working on! Thanks for your love and
encouragement! Okay off to go write in my journal to get a heads start for 2014 goals!
